ZF Supervisory Board appoints Andreas Moser, previously Head of ZF’s Industrial Technology Division, as Member of the Board of Management for the Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology Divisions and the India Region
Sebastian Schmitt becomes head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology division and reports to ZF CEO Mathias Miedreich in this role
Group Board of Management reduced from six to five members; CEO Miedreich creates new governing body including a Transformation Committee
October 23, 2025, Friedrichshafen, Germany. At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Supervisory Board of ZF Friedrichshafen AG made decisions on personnel matters and the future organization of the company.
Andreas Moser, previously head of the ZF Industrial Technology division, was appointed to the Board of Management for the Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology Divisions and the India Region, effective November 1, 2025. Sebastian Schmitt has been appointed head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology (E) division, in which ZF has bundled its conventional, hybrid and electric passenger-car drivetrain technologies. He currently heads the Electrified Powertrain Systems product line. CEO Mathias Miedreich remains responsible for the E division on the Board of Management.
“Following the changes to the Board of Management, it was important for the Supervisory Board to create clarity in the Group’s management,” said Dr. Rolf Breidenbach, Chairman of the ZF Supervisory Board. “In Andreas Moser, we’ve found a Board member who has been with ZF for more than 30 years, many of them in management positions in ZF’s Commercial
Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology divisions. This means competence and continuity. We’ve thus succeeded in setting up ZF’s management committee within a very short time so that the Group’s current challenges can be mastered.”
“With this new Management Board, we have a strong and highly
competent leadership team that will successfully guide ZF into the future,”
Mathias Miedreich points out.
Born in 1963, Andreas Moser has been with ZF since 1992. After holding several positions in business unit management and sales in the Commercial Vehicle Solutions division, he was appointed as its lead in 2020. In April 2021, he moved to Passau to take over as head of the Industrial Technology division.
Sebastian Schmitt will become the new head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology division. He will report directly to CEO Mathias Miedreich, who headed this division as a member of the Board of Management until the end of September and will continue to be responsible for it. Schmitt is an industrial engineer; he has been with ZF for almost two decades and currently heads the Electrified Powertrain Systems product line. His professional career has taken him to ZF’s Saltillo site in Mexico and to the Brandenburg transmission plant as managing director, among other positions.
Restructuring for greater performance
To drive forward the realignment of ZF with full force, CEO Mathias Miedreich is relying on a lean and powerful management organization. The Group Board of Management will be reduced from six to five members – a clear indication of efficiency and focus. At the same time, ZF is establishing a Transformation Committee, a central governing body that directly links the key business areas – sales, materials management, production and
strategy – with the Board of Management. This team will take over the operational management of the group-wide performance program, the heart of the transformation.
“Our entire focus in the coming years will be on strengthening ZF’s operations, further increasing profitability and consistently expanding our financial stability,” emphasized Mathias Miedreich. “The new Transformation Committee stands for speed, clarity, and impact – with the clearly defined objective of supporting our customers through forward- looking technologies and reliable partnerships.”
