Enhanced Connectivity to Improve Logistics Efficiency, Support Economic Growth : Chairman CII Maharashtra

Mumbai : May 1 Coinciding with Maharashtra Day, the ‘Missing Link’ project on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai–Pune Expressway will be opened to the public by the Government of Maharashtra. The project will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra.

The Missing Link, implemented by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is expected to ease travel between Mumbai and Pune, two of the state’s key economic centres, by reducing travel time and improving route efficiency.

The time savings are expected to translate into economic gains for industry, with improved connectivity supporting more efficient supply chains, lower logistics and inventory costs, and faster movement of goods and workforce across the corridor.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said infrastructure upgrades of this scale are IMPORATNT to improving ease of doing business, strengthening regional competitiveness, and supporting fresh investments into Maharashtra. The project is also expected to benefit MSMEs, manufacturing clusters and services through better market access and operational efficiency, along with fuel savings and logistics cost optimisation.

Mr Deepak Garg, Chairman, CII Maharashtra, said, “The Mumbai–Pune Missing Link Project is a significant step toward strengthening Maharashtra’s industrial ecosystem. Enhanced connectivity will improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and boost investor confidence, enabling businesses to scale operations more effectively.”

He also added that, “Continued investment in infrastructure remains essential to building a competitive business environment and sustaining economic growth in the state.”

The project reflects Maharashtra’s continued focus on infrastructure development as a driver of industrial and economic expansion.
