Gurugram. BMW India is all set to bring the first-ever BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition, a modern tribute that reinterprets the pioneering 1973 BMW 2002 turbo for a new generation. The car can be pre-ordered across authorized BMW India dealer network starting today.

Available in strictly limited numbers, the BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition is reserved for a select few enthusiasts and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Exclusively finished in Alpine White, the M2 xDrive Turbo Edition pays homage to the legendary BMW 2002 turbo with hand-painted BMW Motorsport stripes, a black power dome and the iconic reversed ‘turbo’ script on the bonnet. A bespoke ‘turbo’ emblem beneath the M2 badge, bold M stripes flowing across the bonnet, carbon-fibre roof and tailgate, and a carbon-fibre rear spoiler reinforce its motorsport pedigree, while optional 19/20-inch Gold Bronze M Performance forged wheels complete the unmistakable heritage-inspired look.

The interior of the BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition is equally distinctive, featuring M Carbon bucket seats, an M Alcantara steering wheel with interior trim in carbon fibre and an exclusive ‘turbo’ badge integrated into the centre cupholder cover.

Beneath the design upgrades, the 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine delivers 353 kW (480 hp), launching the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds toward an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (or 285 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package).

The legendary BMW 2022 Turbo

As the world grappled with an unprecedented oil crisis in 1973, BMW introduced a car few expected, and nobody could ignore: the BMW 2002 turbo. Delivering 170 hp and a top speed beyond 200 km/h, it challenged the conventions of its time. More importantly, it pioneered series-production turbocharging for passenger cars, introducing a technology that would transform automotive engineering for decades to come. What began as a daring statement of innovation became the blueprint for modern performance. The BMW 2002 turbo remains a landmark in BMW history, a technological trailblazer whose influence continues to power the automotive world today. The BMW 2002 turbo combined lightweight proportions with unmistakable performance intent. A true pioneer, it remains one of the most influential sports sedans in automotive history.
